Washington, D.C. Silhouettes
The Washington DC Chapter of the Kappa Silhouettes met several years before its incorporation on April 13, 1959.
The DC Silhouettes and chapters of the metropolitan area hosted Kappa Grand Chapter meetings in August 1954 and 1985.
The Silhouettes have consistently supported the Washington Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in the following ways: annual donation of $1000 to the Kappa‘s scholarship fund, annual Christmas party with the Kappas as guests, an annual donation to the Kappa Foundation, annual co-hosting of the Martin Luther King Prayer Breakfast.
The DC Chapter is a life member of the NAACP. The group has consistently made donations of food, clothing, and money to less fortunate families and community organizations.
In 1995, the DC chapter on first place in the nation for the Silhouettes’ national project: Crisis of the African American Family in America. The title of the DC Project: Health Awareness: Hypertension and Cancer risks.
In February 2001, members of the chapter chaperoned about 25 school children to a basketball game played by Howard University and Florida A&M University.
